On Tuesday, October 21, 2014 the CSI Intramural & Recreation Program held its annual Student vs. Faculty/Staff Volleyball Game at the Sports & Recreation Center. Although, Faculty/Staff were shorthanded, they were able to pull out the victory in four sets, 3-1. Last year the Students were able to steal a win and were determined to do so again but Faculty/Staff would hear none of it.
Faculty/Staff took the first game in fairly easy fashion lead by CSI’s Volleyball Head Coach Juan Lopez and CSI’s Assistant Volleyball Coach Jeanmarie Lewandowski. The final score of the first set was, 25-17. In the second set the Students took an early lead but would soon see that lead diminish as Faculty/Staff went on a big run which eventually turned into a win by a score of, 25-18.
With Faculty/Staff up two games to none the Students did not want to lose in three straight sets, thus, they came out with a little more fire and desire in the third set. The Students jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the third set powered by seven straight service aces. Faculty/Staff would fight back but the Students used a few more service aces and errors on the Faculty/Staff side to close the game and take the third set by a score of, 25-18. The fourth set would start off with Faculty/Staff jumping out to an early lead but the Students would rally back to tie the game at 20 apiece. However, Faculty/Staff would reel off five straight points to seal the set and match by a score of, 25-20.
The next Students vs. Faculty/Staff Game will be a Basketball Game on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Sports & Recreation Center (1R) starting at 6:30 PM.
