In what was the final weekly reporting regular season cycle for Men’s and Women’s Basketball this season, two outstanding Dolphins took home weekly awards from the CUNY Athletic Conference.  Senior Samantha Flecker collected her fourth CUNYAC Player of the Week honor, while first-year sophomore Adeola Latunji was highlighted as Rookie of the Week on the men’s side for the second time this season.

As she has been all season, Flecker has been sensational of the Dolphins as CSI scored a 3-0 week against the top three teams that are sitting at the top half of the CUNYAC standings.  Flecker averaged 17.2 points and 12 rebounds per game.  Against top-seeded Brooklyn, ranked No. 2 in the region, she posted 18 points and a game-high 15 rebounds to lead CSI to a 62-45 win.  Two days later against Lehman in their CUNYAC finale, Flecker topped all with 24 points and a season-high 16 rebounds and six assists.  For the season, Flecker is second on the team, averaging 15.3 points per game and leads the team with 7.9 rebounds per game.

The men’s basketball squad went 2-1 in the three games they played this week, and Latunji was a force in the trio of contests, especially CSI’s two big road contests against Brooklyn and Lehman.   Latunji also averaged 17.2 points per game with 6.3 rebounds over the three games, including a 25-point effort against top-seeded Lehman College, his second highest single-game total this season.  He also added a pair of blocks in the game, a career-high.  For the year, Latunji stands second on the team, averaging 15.8 points per contest, leading the way with 6.0 rebounds per game while recording 16 blocked shots and 37 steals defensively.

The CSI women’s basketball team will officially conclude their regular season on Wednesday night, when they host Yeshiva University at 7pm.  As for the men’s team, they are idle until they learn their postseason fate once the CUNYAC regular season ends on Tuesday.
