The College of Staten Island baseball squad will play at the CSI Baseball Complex for the first time this season after several cancellations and postponements delayed their home opener. Tonight the Dolphins will square off against CUNYAC opponents, John Jay College at 4:00 for a doubleheader.

Players to Watch (CSI): Sean Becker paces the Dolphins with a .343 batting average while sitting in second with a single home run. Nick Meola has powered his way to a .340 batting average, a pair of home runs and 11 RBI, both of which lead the team. Collecting one of the team’s two triples is Glenn Glennerster as he comes in batting .273 on the year with eight RBI. Christian Capellan boasts the teams best ERA with a 2.42 and also leads the team with 24 strikeouts. Capellan has been precise in his 26 innings, walking just three batters and allowing only three doubles.
Players to Watch (JJC): Sean Napier has batted his way to the top of the list, leading the team with a .410 average. To add to his numbers, he sits second on the team with 10 RBI and a pair of triples. Ryan Osborne claims the top spot for John Jay with 15 RBI and two home runs to go along with a .306 batting average. Osborne is also prone to striking out as he has done so 16 times this season. Alexis Martinez is the most patient batter at the plate for the Bloodhounds as he leads the team with 11 walks and just two strikeouts. Danny Wynne has been great for the Bloodhounds in five appearances, boasting a 1.74 ERA.
News & Notes: The Dolphins and Bloodhounds met in the CUNYAC Playoffs last season with the Bloodhounds besting the Dolphins on the first day of the double-elimination tournament. CSI would later come back two days later and defeat John Jay, 6-1, before going on to win the CUNYAC Championship. Including those two meetings, the Dolphins have won two of the last three against the Bloodhounds. At the CSI Baseball Complex, Staten Island is 43-23 all-time against John Jay, a series that dates back to 1978. As a team, the Dolphins are hitting .266 while the Bloodhounds come in boasting an average of .283.
