Mother Nature had other plans the first few times the event was scheduled, but recently, The Willowbrook Legacy Committee at the College of Staten Island got to spend the afternoon welcoming visitors to its Walk the Mile event, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the opening of The Willowbrook Mile on CSI’s campus. All 12 stations were on display inside the Center for the Arts for visitors to take in the entire experience, and later, the group ventured outside to walk through several stations, chronicling the history of the Willowbrook State School and the advocacy that eventually led to its closure.
