The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Teams have been named College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams for the Fall of 2023. The Dolphins were among 783 teams selected for the honor that was given to programs with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The recognition also comes just two weeks after the teams saw 19 student-athletes appear on the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll. For the CSI women, 24 Dolphins contributed to a team GPA of 3.4 in the Fall semester. For the CSI men, 16 Dolphins contributed to a 3.38 GPA.
Collectively, the Dolphins achieved a GPA of greater than 3.5 during the Fall semester which earned each of them Academic Distinction from the NE-10. Six more Dolphins achieved GPA’s between 3.0 and 3.49 to receive Academic Honors from the NE-10 two weeks ago. Among those 19 student-athletes were seven freshmen, many of whom have contributed a great deal in the pool as well. These newcomers, combined with CSI’s 23 returning student-athletes, combine to continue a longstanding record of academic excellence. That level of achievement in the classroom has now officially been recognized both by the NE-10 and yesterday by the CSCAA.
This CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition has long been the norm for a Dolphins Swimming & Diving program that sees their first appearance in the Northeast-10 Swimming & Diving Conference Championship quickly approaching. It was announced last summer that the program had been approved for associate membership in the conference and the Dolphins will make their championship debut one week from Friday.
