It was announced on Wednesday that Jordan Swanson of the College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team has been named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Individual Scholar All America 2nd Team for the 2023-2024 season. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher and meet a “B” time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet. Swanson joins over 2,000 swimmers and divers nationwide selected for the CSCAA Individual Scholar All America Team, all of whom can be found listed here.
Swanson adds the accolade to an already impressive career résumé which has placed her among the highest-achieving student-athletes in the history of the Swimming & Diving program. She currently holds the program record in all 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving events and competed in NCAA Nationals following the conclusion of this past season. She was named the CSI Athletics Female Athlete of the Year in 2022-2023 and was named Diver of the Year at the Finnies in May. Swanson also made an immediate impact during the program’s first-ever appearance in the Northeast-10 Swimming & Diving Conference Championship in February earning CSI’s first medal in 1-Meter Diving.
CSCAA Scholar All America recognition was also given to both the Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving teams as a unit continuing a longstanding run of academic success. To qualify for this recognition, teams had to earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 during the Spring 2024 semester. Joining the Dolphins were 720 programs from 416 other institutions. As for the CSI men, 14 student-athletes combined to achieve the second-highest team GPA among the nation’s Division II programs at 3.57. The CSI women saw 14 Dolphins combine for a 3.15 team GPA.
