The Environmental Justice Working Group of the Professional Staff Congress is presenting a Town Hall to discuss the Environmental crisis facing New York State on Tuesday, September 24, at the College of Staten Island’s Lab Theater in the Center for the Arts from 2:30pm – 4:00pm.

The Town Hall comes on the heels of New York State’s announcement of the Decarbonization Leadership program, a decarbonization and electrification initiative administered by the New York Power Authority (NYPA). It includes decarbonization action plans that will reduce carbon emissions in many state facilities.

For the 2023-24 budget, NYPA was authorized to develop decarbonization action plans for 15 of the highest-emitting State facilities – three of them are CUNY campuses (Hunter, Brooklyn, CCNY). The Working Group wants the College of Staten Island to be a part of the program as well. The Town Hall is designed to help review what is being done at CSI and on Staten Island and create proposals of what can make our campus more sustainable.

The event is free and open to the public. Register here or by visiting www.bit.ly/EnvCrisisCSI2024.
