The CSI Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) recently held Interview Week, a recruitment event to connect CSI students and alumni with local companies and organizations. During the event, participants had the chance to interview one on one with five companies each day in the President’s Board Room, which provided a realistic interview atmosphere. Although this was the first Interview Week, CCPD Career Specialist Emily Cummings, who organized the event, said that the Center has organized other recruitment events in the past.

Participating employers included: Interglobe Communications, New York Life, Enterprise, A Very Special Place, and A Friendly Face.

Taking a look at the participation statistics, the event was a resounding success: nearly 80 students applied for the positions throughout the week. Of those, 40 were selected for interviews, and 17 students advanced to second-round interviews.

Cummings noted that the employers were quite impressed with the CSI applicants. “The feedback from employers was overwhelmingly positive,” she noted, “with many praising the high caliber of our students’ interview skills. Employers were so impressed by both the event and the students that they have expressed interest in more on-campus recruitment opportunities in the future. An employer from New York Life stated ‘All the students I met today are great! I am looking forward to seeing them succeed in our organization. Your career services team are phenomenal and I’d always be up for doing this with you as your students are very high quality.’ Students also reported feeling confident during their interviews, with several already receiving job offers.”

Considering the success of Interview Week for everyone involved, Cummings commented that the Center hopes to host more events like this in the future.
