CUNY is officially retiring Blackboard as part of the system-wide transition to Brightspace, CUNY’s current learning management system (LMS). Access to Blackboard will permanently end on Thursday, Dec. 18. Your final opportunity to export course materials (e.g., course packages, files, Collaborate recordings) runs now through Dec. 18.
We will provide data archiving and support in the following ways:
- All Blackboard courses and instructional data will be centrally archived in compliance with CUNY policy.
- Note: Collaborate recordings are not included in course archives and should be saved to CUNY-approved storage (e.g., Microsoft Office 365 and Dropbox) consistent with data and privacy requirements. See these instructions for how to download Collaborate recordings from Blackboard.
- A permanent LMS archive solution is in development to ensure long-term access. Your instructional data will be preserved—not fully deleted.
- Faculty and staff can request that past courses be restored during the transition period.
