CSI Professor and Archivist James Kaser received mention in a recent article in The New Yorker regarding a renewed movement for Staten Island to succeed from New York City in light of the election of Zohran Mamdani as the City’s mayor.

In the article, Kaser assisted Republican State Assemblyperson Sam Pirozzolo, who represents western and central portions of the Borough, and who is leading the charge for succession with a declaration of independence for Staten Island, with materials for his research.
