For students interested in law, debate, or advocacy, the Pre-Law Society at CSI offers more than just information about the legal field, it offers you the opportunity to experience it.

Led by President Ashley Villalva and VP Sasha Smolansky, the club focuses on helping students explore legal careers while building real-world skills.

Meeting every other Thursday during Club Hours, the organization has grown into an active community where students engage directly with legal concepts.

Instead of traditional meetings, the Pre-Law Society focuses on interactive learning through activities like Supreme Court case discussions and a “Judge for a Day” event, where students analyze real cases and deliver their own rulings.

The club also provides valuable opportunities beyond campus. Members develop skills in public speaking, analytical reasoning, and argumentation, while gaining access to internship opportunities and the ability to connect with legal professionals.

Looking ahead, the Pre-Law Society plans to host a mock trial simulation, giving students the chance to get accustomed to courtroom roles and experience the legal process firsthand.

Smolansky emphasized that students don’t need to be committed to law school to join. Even if you’re just curious about law, debate, or public policy, there’s something at this club for you— and an opportunity to actively step into it.
