I am writing to ask for your assistance in identifying students who might be strong candidates for Fulbright scholarships. This year CSI will be sending Macaulay graduate Michael Young ’10 on a Fulbright Teaching Fellowship to Spain. As the campus representative for Fulbright, I have been pleased to help Michael and other outstanding students apply for and (we hope) receive these prestigious awards. If you know students who might be interested in pursuing an international research or teaching opportunity after graduation, please send them my way.
According to the program’s materials: “The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to “increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. With this goal as a starting point, the Fulbright Program has provided almost 300,000 participants — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.”
Candidates should be graduating seniors or recent alumni. They must be U.S. citizens. The Fulbright deadline is mid-October; our campus deadline is mid-September. Please ask interested students to contact me at their earliest convenience.
