The College of Staten Island fell to Old Westbury in a very competitive five set match on Tuesday evening at the CSI Sports and Recreation Center. The Dolphins drop to 2-10 while the Panthers of Old Westbury stretched to a 13-7 record.

The Dolphins captured the first set by a 25-21 score before the Panthers would answer in set tow with a 25-23 win. Set three also belonged to Old Westbury who stole away with the win, 26-14. CSI pushed to the limit in set four to tie the game at 2-2 with a 26-24 score. Set five saw complete back-and-forth play with both teams going point for point before the Panthers would take the finals 15-13 victory.

Ma Socorro-Calleja led all players with kills with 18 and added 18 digs. Vasiliki Stergioula saw 10 kills with nine digs and three service aces. CSI setters Jennifer Samuel and Gabriele Bradshaw helped with 17 and 13 assists respectively.

Ashley Greene led the way for the Panthers with a team-high 16 kills and 12 digs. She was assisted by Kristine Giordano with 22 assists. Libero Samantha Howley totaled 18 digs.

The Dolphins will travel to Wayne, New Jersey on Thursday, October 6 for a 7:00 pm game against William Paterson University.
