The World on Wednesday Lecture Series presents “Italians on the Move! A Brief History of Migration Cinema’ with Alberto Zambenedetti, World Languages and Literatures, on Apr. 4 in the Campus Center (Building 1C) Green Dolphin Lounge from 12:20pm to 1:10pm.

Prof. Zambenedetti will discuss how emigrants are portrayed throughout the years, from the heartthrobs of fascist film to the postwar comics, from the existential migrants of the 1990s to the flexible citizens of contemporary Italy.

Italian immigrants have been a recurrent presence in U.S. cinema since the days of silent film, but the Italian national cinema has its own history of characters leaving the country for faraway lands.

The World on Wednesday series is sponsored by the Center for International Service and is approved a CC CLUE credit.
