Sal Todaro totaled five hits and four RBI in today's wins over CCNY.

The Dolphins captured both wins against CCNY in their conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. CSI took game one by a 5-4 score before grabbing game two by a 17-9 score.  

Sal Todaro and Frank Smith started the second inning off with singles before scoring off of a James Lewis single and a Frank Torres ground out for a 2-0 score. The third inning saw a Todaro RBI single raise the lead to 3-0.

The Beavers closed the gap to one with two runs in the fifth inning. Johan Cruz started the inning with a double before scoring on a CSI error. Paul Rojas, who reached after being hit by a pitch, scored on Chris Lounsbury’s single.

CSI added two insurance runs in sixth with another Lewis RBI and a Torres sac fly. However, the Beavers wouldn’t go down without a fight scoring two in the top seventh behind a Cruz triple and a Lounsbury sac fly.

Mike Van Pelt captured the win for CSI as Dominic Casella grabbed the save.

Lewis led with two hits and two RBI while Todaro added a two hits and an RBI.

In game two, CCNY jumped out to a two run lead as Matt Montanez slammed a two run double down the right field line. CSI answered at the bottom of the inning with the help of Todaro’s RBI single and a Bryan Moreno triple that scored Todaro and Difede to put the score in their favor, 3-2.

After reaching on an error in the second inning, Rojas scored on a balk by CSI pitcher Chris Matusiwiecz. Kennedy Tavarez closed the inning with a run triple to capture the lead back, 5-3.

The Beavers extended their lead in the 3rd inning. After loading the bases with three consecutive hits, Yoribaldis Olivo walked to bring home the sixth run. Rojas’ sac fly scored the final run of the inning to put CCNY up 7-5.

After scoring in a wild pitch, Matt Montanez helped CCNY extend their lead to 8-5 in the fourth inning. The Dolphins inched back at the bottom of the inning with a Henry Roman RBI for an 8-6 score.

CSI added four runs in the bottom of the fifth behind an exciting Difede three run triple and a Todaro RBI single that score Difede to bring the lead back in their possession.

With the Dolphins holding a 10-8 lead going into the 6th inning, the Beavers fought to add one run with a Van Molloy RBI single. To close for comfort, CSI added seven runs in the bottom of the 6th inning; Frank Smith started it off with an RBI double then scored on a wild pitch, Henry Roman had an RBI walk, Difede hit in a sac RBI and Moreno had an single that scored two runs sealing the win.

Moreno totaled four hits and four RBI while Todaro tallied three hits and three RBI.

Nick Amatucci captured the win for CSI striking out three and holding CCNY to one run in 3.1 innings.

The Dolphins will host NYU-Polytech on Thursday, April 19, in a 7:00 pm game.
