Richard Anderson captured the win from the mound with eight strikeouts.

The Dolphins finished their 2012 season with an 8-3 victory over Mount St. Vincent in a post season non-conference game at the CSI Baseball Complex on Sunday afternoon. CSI ended their season with a 21-18 record.

Mount St. Vincent scored their only three runs at the top of the first inning behind a Christian Lavery RBI and a Mark Sargente two run single.

CSI wouldn’t answer until the third inning as a Luis Ortiz ground out scored Dan Lynch who was hit by a pitch to get on base to put the score at 3-1.

In the fourth inning CSI led off with three back-to-back singles by Will Difede, Sal Todaro and Bryan Moreno. Difede closed the gap to 3-2 as he scored on a passed ball. James Lewis pushed Todaro home with a ground out tying the score at three. George Kantzian’s RBI single gave the Dolphins the go-ahead run for a 4-3 score.

Ortiz led of with a walk as Roman reached on a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning before Difede’s RBI single would help Roman and Ortiz score to put the score at 6-3.

CSI added their final two runs in the eighth inning. Todaro and Moreno led off with walks as Cassano followed with a single. Despite grounding out, Lewis’s RBI scored Todaro. Senior Casey Mulligan came in to pinch hit for Kantzian in his first at bat of the season and final at bat of his career, hitting a sac fly RBI to right scoring Moreno for the Dolphins final run.

Richard Anderson captured the win seven strikeouts in eight innings as Mike Van Pelt closed the ninth allowing no hits.

“It was a great way to end the season, especially for our seniors” said Head Coach Mike Mauro, “And it’s a positive headway for next season.”
