Javon Cox had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win

The College of Staten Island men’s basketball squad won for the fifth straight time this evening, breaking open a CUNYAC test against City College of New York, 76-50, in a match played at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.  The Dolphins ran their record to 5-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in CUNYAC play, while the Beavers fell to 4-6, 0-4, respectively.

CSI’s tenacious defense held the Beavers to just 21-of-65 shooting from the floor (32%), while the Dolphins dominated the glass, holding a 51-29 edge.  The Dolphins led virtually from start to finish, taking a 43-24 lead into intermission and sailing from there.

Junior newcomer Jonathan Chadwick-Myers continued his hot play, netting 22 points in the win, to go with a team high six assists.  Javon Cox added 17 points and 10 rebounds to the mix, while Dylan Bulger topped out at 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.  CCNY was paced by Anthony Lewis’ 14 points, while Brandon Reeves garnered 12 points and 9 rebounds.

CSI will now be idle until the weekend of December 29-30, when they usher in the 11th annual CSI Tournament of Heroes at the Sports and Recreation Center.  CSI will play at 7:30pm on the 29th against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.  In the 5:30pm game Methodist University takes on SUNY Institute of Technology.
