The College of Staten Island traveled to No. 10/12 Salisbury University for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday. CSI unfortunately dropped both games to end their regular season with a final record of, 18-14 while No. 10/12 Salisbury improved to 32-7.
No. 10/12 ranked Salisbury and CSI were tied after one inning, however that’s as long as the tie would last as the Seagulls scored a run in the second inning off a single to centerfield. Salisbury then exploded in the third inning for seven runs which sealed the deal as they would go on to win, 13-3, with 18 hits while the Dolphins were able to score three runs off of eight hits.
Game two also went Salisbury’s way as the Dolphins scored one run in the first however the Seagulls answered with five runs of their own giving them a 5-1 lead. Much of the game would go scoreless with the exception of one run from each team to end the game with a final score of 6-2. Both teams had six hits unfortunately the Dolphins also had two costly errors while the Seagulls recorded none.
The Dolphins currently are waiting to see who they will face in the CUNYAC tournament as the #1 seed after going 9-1 in conference play throughout the year.
