The College of Staten Island women’s swimming and diving unit registered a pair of meets this past week, and Dakota Dawkins and diver April Bartlett were rewarded with weekly honors from the City University of New York Athletic Conference. Dawkins was named the CUNYAC’s Performer of the Week, while Bartlett took the honor for Diver of the Week.
Dawkins was the more active of the two, participating in four individual and two relay events. In individual competition, Dawkins garnered a first-place finish against John Jay College, but it was a second-place finish against William Paterson University last Wednesday in the 200-yard Breaststroke that made waves. Dawkins put in a time of 2:35.18, a new CSI record for the event. In relay competition, Dawkins was part of a first-place team against John Jay in the 200-yard Medley Relay. To round out the week, Dawkins placed second in three events, and third in another.
Bartlett participated in a lone event this week, scoring a second-place finish on the three-meter board against WPU. Bartlett topped out with a score of 166.55.
CSI is currently 2-4 overall this season with a 1-1 conference mark. They are idle until December 6, when they travel to take on Brooklyn College at 6pm.
