After a lone meet this week, a pair of College of Staten Island stars took home City University of New York Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving honors. Senior April Bartlett took home the week’s Diver of the Week award while freshman Ewa Wojciechowska was named Performer of the Week as well. The Dolphins dropped their lone meet to Hunter College this week, 125-112.
Despite the loss, the pair of Dolphins were sensational. Wojciechowska shined brightest, winning three events altogether and breaking the CSI school record in the 200-yard Freestyle with a mark of 2:04.27, her first event of the evening, and winning the event by over eight seconds. Later in the program, Wojciechowska doubled in the 500-yard Freestyle, posting a time of 5:37.84, good for 46 seconds faster than anyone else in the field. To cap her evening off, she was part of a 200-yard Freestyle Relay team that took gold with a time of 1:52.06.
Like her counterpart in the lane, Bartlett was sensational on the boards, taking gold this week in both the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions. In the opening one-meter, Bartlett scored 214.73 points, taking first place by a slim three points over teammate Stephanie Collyer. Later, on the higher platform, Bartlett turned in a point total of 219.07, winning by almost 13 points for another first-place finish.
The Dolphins are 3-5 overall and 2-2 within the CUNYAC. They will next face off against York College on January 8, 2015 at 6pm in Queens.
