After another week of basketball the City University of New York Athletic Conference bestowed another pair of awards onto the College of Staten Island, as this time the Dolphins took top weekly Rookie honors in men’s and women’s divisions. Edin Bracic took Rookie of the Week honors on the men’s side, while Christina Pasaturo won Rookie honors for the 9th time on the women’s side.
For Bracic, the award is his first of the season. The St. Louis native had an admirable week, posting 13 points and seven rebounds in a 1-1 week. Bracic was a big force in the mid-week win over John Jay College, 88-78. Bracic scored all of his points, 10 in total, in the second half, adding four rebounds, and three assists. Two nights later, Bracic posted a trio of points and rebounds, to go with five assists against Brooklyn College.
For the season, Bracic leads all CSI freshmen with 7.3 points per game. He is also second on the squad with 18 blocked shots.
No stranger to first year success, Pasaturo bagged her 9th Rookie of the Week honor as well, failing to win the award only once all season. In a big win over John Jay, Pasaturo only played 23 minutes, but added 16 points and seven rebounds in the victory. She added 14 points and a team high 9 rebounds against Brooklyn two nights later.
Pasaturo leads the Dolphins squad with 16.0 points per game adding 6.0 rebounds per game.
CSI is back in action tonight against CCNY. The men tip off at 5:30pm, while the women have a 7:30pm jump.
