College of Staten Island softball star Christina Tufano, a back-to-back Player of the Week by the City University of New York Athletic Conference, has now added an ECAC Division III Metro NY/NJ Player of the Week laurel to her list of achievements this week, it was announced last night. Tufano enjoyed another spectacular week to what is amounting to be an incredible season, after CSI’s 5-1 week to kick off conference play.
In six games a week ago, Tufano posted an astounding .556 week with 11 RBI and five runs scored. In a big, 7-1, win over Hunter College, Tufano hit for the cycle, going 4-4 with four RBI. The homerun she hit was her second of the season. Following another doubleheader sweep of Lehman College this week on Monday, Tufano leads all Dolphins with a healthy .468 batting average, 36 hits and 34 RBI. She is slugging .714 this season and is second on the squad with six stolen bases and a .494 on-base percentage.
Tufano is also closing in on a number of school records in only her third season. She is currently in the CSI top 10 in career hits, RBI, doubles, and triples.
The Dolphins are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Kean University for a twinbill beginning at 4pm at the CSI Softball Complex.
