Dr. Christopher M. Giordano has been named Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students at The City University of New York’s College of Staten Island.
Dr. Giordano has a 20-year career of progressive leadership in all matters of higher education student affairs. Prior to joining the College of Staten Island, Dr. Giordano served as the Dean of Student Life at Owens Community College in Toledo, OH. For six years, he managed a staff of 40, and was responsible for all non-academic and co-curricular aspects of the student experience that engaged and advanced student development, learning, retention, and success.
His proven expertise in fiscal and crisis management roles provided leadership to his reporting staff which included the Director of Athletics, Director of Disability Services, Director of Student Mental Health Services, and Director of Student Activities/Clubs, Organizations and Student Government.
Prior Owens, Dr. Giordano served in leadership roles at the University of Toledo, Suffolk University, the University of Connecticut, and Long Island University/C.W. Post.
An accomplished teacher and national presenter with numerous professional certificates, Dr. Giordano holds a BA from Rowan University, an MS from Upsala College, Graduate Certificate from Suffolk University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education from the University of Toledo.
