After dropping three out of four, the College of Staten Island women’s tennis team has responded with a strong week, winning their third straight this afternoon via an 8-1 decision over Rutgers – Camden as part of non-league play in Camden, NJ. The win carried CSI to 9-3 overall, while the Scarlet Raptors fell to 1-6.
CSI was crisp and efficient this afternoon and it started with a sweep of doubles to take a commanding initial edge. In the top spot, Nozima Toshpulatova and Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert were 8-3 winners over Amanda Hickman and Angela Erriga. CSI then scored a pair of 8-0 wins at No. 2 with Samantha Mazier and Madiha Mulla, and at No. 3 with Michelle Kushnir and Hannah Ramirez.
When play turned to singles, only Hickman for RU-Camden was able to score a win at No. 1, meanwhile, all other flights belonged to CSI. Kushnir, Mazier, and Guetanie Romain at No. 6 all scored 6-0, 6-0, decisions to score CSI the lop-sided win.
