City University of New York Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year Will Fonseca is back at it again, garnering praise from the conference this time by way of a Player of the Week citation. The laurel comes after a 1-1 week for the Dolphins, which saw Fonseca lead the group in points and rebounds.
Fonseca posted a season-high 24 points on a 90-78 win over Hunter College, introducing CSI’s slate of games to kick-off the week. He added 14 rebounds in the affair, blocking a pair of shots as well. Four days later, The Dolphins travelled to face NCAA Division I Wagner College, and despite a tough loss where CSI surrendered a second-half lead, Fonseca led all CSI scorers with 17 points, adding eight rounds with a blocked shot.
For the season, Fonseca is averaging a healthy 18.8 points per game coupled with eight rebounds per contest. He also ranks second on the squad in assists and blocks.
CSI is 3-2 on the early season, and will open up the home portion of their season this coming Saturday, December 5, against Stevens Institute of Technology, at 1pm at the Sports & Recreation Center.
