The College of Staten Island softball squad is in San Antonio, Texas, this weekend, and they officially started their season yesterday against Schreiner University and now sit at 2-0 this season.  Their next stop today will by Trinity University.  The Tigers are off to a 3-3 start to the season, and have been idle since a doubleheader split on Wednesday.

Players to Watch (CSI): Christina Tufano belted her 15th career homerun yesterday and will look to continue the great start against the Tigers.  Jacqueline Cautela will expect to see time in the circle this afternoon after a big win yesterday as well..  NIcolette Trapani enjoyed a sensational freshman year a year ago and is back and ready after her start yesterday to continue her great pace.
Players To Watch (TU): Sarah Paller is off to a hot start, sporting a .529 batting average through six games, with four extra bases including a homerun.  Sophomore Rebecca Berreth leads the squad with 10 hits including three doubles with a .476 average.  Leading the way with 15.2 innings pitched, Kaci Wellik is sporting a 3.57 ERA so far with a 2-1 mark.  Katie Glomb is 0-1 this season but leads the team with a 3.50 ERA.
News & Notes: Trinity has won three of their last four heading into this showdown with the Dolphins, who are coming off of their opening day twinbill with Schreiner University.  The Tigers are a team sporting very healthy offensive numbers, averaging 6.2 runs per game thus far with a team batting average of .326.  The Tigers have also scattered 18 extra bases this season and their 17 walks this season are helping them sport a .381 on-base percentage.  In yesterday’s doubleheader, CSI was able to score 5-2, and 4-0 wins.  Trapani tossed eight shutout innings in her game in the circle, posting eight strikeouts.
