The College of Staten Island recently put the finishing touches on their 2016-17 schedule and it has been officially released at this time. Coming off of a solid season, the Dolphins are looking towards continued advancement, and there should be plenty of exciting basketball on the docket this season.
It will all start for the Dolphins on the weekend of November 18-19, when the team travels to Salisbury, MD, to take part in the Salisbury University Optimist Tournament, where they will take on the hosts on the opening night. Johns Hopkins University and Cabrini College also compete in what has to be one of the more star-studded opening tournaments in the country. The Dolphins will tip off the basketball season at the Sports & Recreation Center a few days later on November 22, at 8:00pm, against Yeshiva University, part of a CSI non-conference doubleheader.
The Dolphins open up CUNYAC play at home against John Jay College on November 29, part of four CUNYAC tests prior to the winter break. Coming out of the break, the Dolphins will face off against their NCAA Division I cross-town neighbor Wagner College at the Spiro Center at 7pm on December 22. From there, CSI ushers in the celebrated 15th Annual Tournament of Heroes, where they will host Bridgewater College and welcome in Illinois-Wesleyan and Middlebury in another highly-competitive foray.
CSI follows with 13 games in the new year, including a three-game homestand in late January that includes CSI’s Alumni Day on January 28. The Alumni will tip off at 11:00am, followed by a 1:00pm matinee against CUNYAC-rival York College.
The season wraps up with eight straight CUNYAC contests, bleeding into the CUNYAC Postseason Championship Tournament with opening round play scheduled for February 17 and extending to the Final played at CCNY’s Nat Holman Gymnasium on February 24.
