The College of Staten Island women’s volleyball squad dropped their third in a row on Friday evening, falling to FDU-Florham by a 3-0 count as part of non-league play in Madison, NJ.  The Dolphins fell to 7-17 with the loss, while the Devils moved to 16-13.  Final scores were 25-19, 25-9, and 25-10.

CSi got off to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening game thanks to a pair of Siobhan Granich kills, and then pushed to 5-1 thanks to FDU errors, but the Devils would right the ship with an 11-5 run from there, never truly looking back.  The Devils extended to as many as six sparked by a Lauren Harris kills, and after CSI used a couple of FDU errors to pull to within 23-19, the Devils used another Harris kill and a CSI error to win the first set.

Things went smoother for FDU from there as they would only allow a total of 19 points and 9 CSI kills over the next two sets combined to coast to the win.  The Devils got off to a 13-4 start in the second set on the way to the win on seven kills by the front line, and in the third set, FDU got off to a numbing 12-0 start helped by three Harris kills and another pair by Brenna Bobrove.

FDU was led by Harris’ 10 kills and a pair of aces.  Melissa Gaffney was a catalyst with 19 assists and 12 defensive digs.  CSI was led by Granich’s eight kill, followed by Sandy Mila’s five.  Victoria Wong led defensively with 16 digs.

CSI will back on the courts tomorrow, when they travel to Manhattanville College to take on both the hosts and New Jersey City University for a trimatch beginning at 12 Noon.
