The City University of New York Athletic Conference released in 2016 list of All-Stars for Women’s Volleyball and senior pair Victoria Wong and Siobhan Granich were named to the units. Wong earned on to the 1st-team while Granich posted 2nd-team honors. Freshman Alexandra Boachie-Ansah was named to the CUNYAC’s All-Sportsmanship Team as well.
A highly decorated player for four years, Wong was named to the All-Sportsmanship team a year ago and was a two-time Libero of the Week this year for the CUNYAC. She led the squad with 445 digs, a career-high en route to over a thousand in her career. She also posted 30 service aces, good for fourth on the unit. She posted a season-high 30 digs against CCNY and her 1,291 digs rank first all-time in CSI career history (since 2000).
Equally potent on the front line was Granich, who led all Dolphins with 195 kills, a career high for her in a single season, finishing her with 462 for her illustrious career. She finished second on the squad with 39 aces, 222 digs, and 9 total blocks. She tallied a career-high 22 kills against Sarah Lawrence College in a five-set victory this season.
Freshman Boachie-Ansah appeared in 22 matches and posted 29 kills while leading the team with 10 total blocks. Her versatile role and outspoken leadership helped her be voted by her peers to the All-Sportsmanship Team, which recognizes excellence in character on the court and service to the team.
CSI women’s volleyball finished 7-20 this season, notching a trip to the CUNYAC Postseason. Graduating only the senior all-star pair, the unit hopes to be stronger in coming seasons as they build towards the future.
