The region saw some snow this morning, but the weather is warm in Miami, Florida, where the Dolphins are prepared to put their training in the sunshine state to the test, when they participate in the Sprint Meet Invitational at Florida International University at 1:00pm. The meet will feature many teams from across all NCAA Divisions.

Swimmers to Watch (CSI): On the women’s side, Ewa Wojciechowska has been making waves and will continue to contend in short form events as well here today. Naomi Gaggi is also putting up good times while freshman Alicia Defonte is proving to get stronger with each race. Look for the trio to lend heavy support for the Dolphins this afternoon. On the men’s side, seniors Tim Sweeney and Derek Villa are the major catalysts and both are hoping to improve on times and show the benefits of the Florida training. Look for freshman Omar Zaky to alo continue his steady improvement as well.
News and Notes: This is the first time the Dolphins have competed at this event which features FIU, American University, Binghamton, Cazenovia College, Keiser, Scranton and the College of Staten Island. The Dolphins have been in Florida since Tuesday of this week, training long course twice a day in preparation for this meet. They will conclude this trip and return to Staten Island on Sunday. The Dolphins will return to dual meet action on Thursday, January 12 for their final home meet of the season against St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn.
