The College of Staten Island women’s softball team is the four-time defending CUNYAC Champions, and they have officially announced their 2017 schedule as they get set to defend their title. The start to the season includes an eight-game swing in Orlando, Florida and will end with the CUNYAC Championship Tournament on its home field in Staten Island.
The season officially gets underway, weather-permitting, in the northeast, as the Dolphins open up at Rutgers-Newark on March 5. They are in the air the next day and will play an eight-game swing in Orlando as part of the Citrus Games. CSI starts off against Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and Simmons College on March 8 and wrap up against Franklin College and Rochester College on March 12.
CSI will intro the home portion of their schedule on March 18, when they host Purchase State for a weekend doubleheader. The following day they host Montclair State University as well. On March 25, CSI will be on the road for the first of six CUNYAC doubleheaders against Lehman College. April brings with it a home double against Brooklyn College and the month features a home doubleheader against Hunter College on April 15, a rematch of last year’s championship.
The postseason will come to a close on the first weekend in May with the double-elimination CUNYAC Tournament for the conference’s top four teams. The action takes place on May 5-6 at the CSI Softball Complex, where the Dolphins will be eyeing their fifth-straight crown. The Championship carries with it an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
All CSI home games are FREE and PG-CLUE Certified for all CSI students.
