College of Staten Island women’s basketball junior Christina Pasaturo received a CSI first this weekend, being hailed as an All-America Honorable Mention by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The WBCA put out its list of 10 All-American players this weekend, along with a total of 30 honorable mentions to complete the list. Pasaturo joined Lehman College’s Amely Del Rosario as the only two standouts on the list from the City University of New York Athletic Conference.
Pasaturo had a banner year that resulted in both CUNYAC and ECAC Metro NY/NJ Player of the Year honors. The junior tallied a school single-season record 629 points, good for 21.7 a clip, while also leading the team in three-pointers with another school-record 109 this season. Along the way, Pasaturo led the team in assists (126), blocks (22) and steals (84) and was second on the unit with 213 total rebounds, good for 7.3 per contest.
By the close of the season, Pasaturo became CSI’s first ever back-to-back 500+ point scorer in successive seasons, and she stands just 42 points away from tying the school’s all-time scoring record of 1,615 points. She is also 11th all-time in rebounds (574), fourth all-time in assists (376), third all-time in three-pointers (238), and 10th all-time in career steals (206).
