The College of Staten Island men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams enjoyed a great 2016-17 season, and a collection of their finest will be on display this weekend at the ECAC Open Championships at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  A total of five CSI swimmers made the ECAC cuts, including Timothy Sweeney, Derek Villa, Jonathan Gorinshteyn, Nick Defonte and Ewa Wojciechowska.  The group will be competing in 13 events beginning today and extending through Sunday.

Similar to the Metropolitan Swimming Championships, the ECAC Open will hold preliminary heats during 10:00am morning sessions, and the fastest swimmers will be invited back and be eligible for point-scoring during the evening heats beginning at 4:00pm.  Swimmers from all three NCAA Divisions will be in attendance, so the competition will be fierce at Lejeune Hall at Navy.
