The College of Staten Island women’s cross-country team was on hand this afternoon in Sunken Meadow Park in Kings Park, NY, taking part in the St. Joseph’s College (LI) Invitational. The Dolphins placed 14th amongst 18 teams in the 5k event, finishing third among CUNYAC schools despite being shorthanded.
CSI had five runners compete this afternoon, and were led by sophomore Tristiana Adragna, who came in at 22:48.5, good for 38th in the field of 167 runners. It marked CSI’s fastest 5k of the season.
Adragna was followed by a strong run from Veronica Lorenzo, who landed in 89th place with a time of 25:44.9. Victoria DeBernardo was back on the course this week and she turned in a time of 28:11.4 to come in 117th. Rounding out the finishers in close proximity was Stephanie DaSilva with a time of 32:29.0 followed by Moet Askew who crossed at 33:26.0.
CSi’s total score was 396. Fordham University won the meet with 44 points, while Farmingdale State was the top Division III finishing team with 76. CSi was behind CUNYAC sides Brooklyn (390) and Medgar Evers (392).
CSI will have next week off before they get prepared for the CUNYAC Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Sunday, October 29.
