It was a productive week for the College of Staten Island winter sports teams, and they now have three weekly awards to show for it from the City University of New York Athletic Conference.  Women’s Basketball senior Christina Pasaturo took home another Player of the Week honor on the hardwood, while Adil El Haddad and Jessica Shaw both repeated as Divers of the Week in the pool.

Since day one, Pasaturo has been the lightning rod for the women’s basketball team, which went 3-0 last week, all on the road.  First, Pasaturo was sensational in a season-high 29-point performance at Centenary University last Monday, then pitching in with a 19 point performance against NYU, a game that saw CSI defeat the Violets for the first time in 33 years, spanning 21 games.  Finally, in the Dolphins’ first CUNYAC test of the season, Pasaturo led all scorers with 21 points in just 24 minutes on the floor in a 104-41 win over John Jay College.

For the season, Pasaturo has already broken the school’s all-time scoring record and three-point shooting record, and is averaging 23 points per game, adding 5.2 rebounds per game, good for second on the team.  Pasaturo also leads the team with 22 assists and 21 steals.  The Dolphins are 5-1 overall, and will travel to York College for another conference test on Tuesday.

Adil El Haddad is dominating the boards this season, and just wrapped up his fourth-straight Diver of the Week citation.  This week, El Haddad swept both the one-meter and three-meter boards at the Drew University Invitational, which featured four competing teams.  El Haddad posted a score of 189.85 on the one-meter platform, while posting a score of 194.7 on the three-meter platform, winning the event by almost 20 points.

El Haddad sits sixth on the team with 84 total points, second on the team with eight first-place finishes in individual events.

Jessica Shaw was the weekly winner on the women’s side for the second time this season.  Shaw posted a score of 125.35 on the one-meter board, the only performance she had this past week at the Drew Invitational.  The score was fourth overall in the field of eight, ahead of teammate Alyssa Dunn.

Shaw has 14 total points this season.  The CSI Swimming & Diving units will be back in action on Friday, when they travel to Lehman College for a 5:30pm CUNYAC showdown with the Lightning.
