The College of Staten Island/CUNY Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) Program is under new leadership: Stefanie Gardiner is serving as Interim SEEK Director, effective Monday, July 2. SEEK has been part of the CUNY and CSI fabric for many years. It is a higher educational opportunity program that provides academic and financial support to students who qualify based on specific income and academic criteria.
Stefanie brings a deep understanding for the needs of the program and students after serving as the SEEK Coordinator in the Office of Financial aid for ten years. In this capacity, she has functioned as a member of the SEEK leadership team. Her responsibilities, among others, included supervising the application process for SEEK and managing recruiting efforts in collaboration with SEEK staff. In addition, she played a leading role in providing Dolphin Cove residents with financial aid services and has helped many students and families navigate the financial aid opportunities.
Stefanie worked in SEEK for a year in 2003 after first joining the College in 2002 as a College Assistant in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work. She then worked as a teacher for a while before returning to the College in 2007. Her appointment as Financial Aid Advisor occurred in 2008 in the Office of Financial Aid, a role that successively was filled out with increased responsibilities. Stefanie graduated from the College of Staten Island with a BS in Communications and an MS in Elementary Education.
Please welcome Stefanie in her new role and wish her luck.
