Staten Island, NY |  In a meet that was attended by 52 total teams, the College of Staten Island men’s and women’s track & field units finished identically this afternoon at the Spartan Invitational hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas College at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Facility.  The CSI women finished 22nd out of 27 schools entered, while the men finished 22nd out of 25 schools at the meet.

CSI’s lone point that was awarded came from newcomer Kathryn Ethridge, who in her first meet as a Dolphin, posted a time of 5:31.49, taking eighth place overall in a field of 32 runners.  She was also the top finisher among Division III entrants.

CSI did have quality runs and field events throughout the afternoon.  See below for a full breakdown of what occurred.

WOMEN’S MEET
60-meters – Deavion Brown posted a solid time of 8.19 which placed her in a tie for 20th among 84 runners, and tops among CUNYAC finishers.  Brittani Broderick was next in line with a time of 8.37, good for 38th.  Sarah Andes finished at 9.63 for 77th, while Vanessa Mansur finished at 10.30, good for 82nd.

200-meters – Cassidy Iannariello and Mansure came in 90th and 91st, respectively with times of 35.17 and 35.36.

400-meters – Iannariello placed again here, posting a time of 1:18.91, good for 41st in the field.

800 -meters – Ethridge once again was a force, as she put up a great time of 2:29.60, enough to get her a 15th place finish overall.  Rachel Edmonds posted a time of 2:58.29, which placed her 48th, while Victoria DeBernardo was 53rd with a time of 3:14.86.

Mile – Following Ethridge was Veronica Lorenzo, who came in at 7:45.36, finishing 32nd.

Long Jump – Broderick had her first long jump of the season and topped out at 4.78 feet, good for 19th overall.

Shot Put – Stephanie DaSilva recorded a distance of 22’3″, good for 48th, while Edmonds posted a score of 21’6″ for 49th.  Ommiya Butt finished 51st at 11’10.5″.

MEN’S MEET
60-meters – Wilson Esguerra was 55th overall at 7.71, while Olaitan Okeowo finished 61st with a time of 8.09.

200-meters – Jordan Thompson was first among Dolphins with a time of 24.26 which finished him 41st.  Esguerra finished 56th with a time of 24.96, and Okeowo was 66th with a time of 26.80.

400-meters – Jordan Thompson finished 33rd with a time of 55.17, while Erik Sanchez made his debut with a time of 1:00.97, good for 43rd.

800-meters – David Outlaw made his CSI debut and clocked in first with a time of 2:12.84, good for 28th overall.  Jaron Thompson followed with a 33rd place finish at 2:18.85, and Sanchez was next at 2:30.23 for 37th, and Justin Fernandez came in 38th place with a time of 2:32.55.

Mile – Liam McMunn led all Dolphins with a time of 4:48.26 for 27th place while Spencer milito placed 38th with a time of 4:59.52.  Daniel Palmieri was 48th with a time of 6:01.85.

3K – Spencer Milito was CSi’s lone entrant, finishing 31st with a time of 9:55.56.

Distance Medley Relay – CSI’s team of Jaron Thompson, McMunn, Sanchez, and Milito finished 12:04.44, good for 11th overall, the Dolphins’ highest finish as a team on the afternoon.

Shot Put – Canaan Rodriguez finished 53rd with a distance of 22’5.25″.

Weight Throw – Rodriguez againcompeted and finished 36th with a toss of 25′ 11.5″.
