Bronxville, NY | The College of Staten Island men’s tennis team got to double-digit wins on the day of the regular season finale tonight, storming past Sarah Lawrence College on the road, 8-1, as part of non-conference play this evening.  The Dolphins lifted to 10-2 overall, while SLC fell to 1-6.  For the Dolphins it marked their first win over Sarah Lawrence in program history.

CSI started strong, posting a sweep of the three Doubles flights when play kicked off.  Ivi Selenica and Alex Tsui got the job done in the top spot, winning 8-3 over Matias Sanchez and Garrett Hsuan.  It took a bit more time, but the No. 2 team of Matthew Vesci and Tao Lin eventually surged to an 8-6 win over Francesco Lagioia and Andrew Varoli.  Meanwhile at the bottom of the order, the team of Raymond Hwang and Lesly DeCastro stayed hot with a convincing, 8-1, winner over Dinj Kapoor and Alex Wah.

The teams decided to play eight-game pro-sets to determine the Singles winners, and there, CSI looked very impressive again.  Vesci, playing in the No. 1 position, posted an 8-2 win over Lagioia in the top spot, while Selenica got through Sanchez at No. 2, 8-1.  Hwang was an 8-4 winner over Kapoor at No. 3, while at No. 5, Alex Tsui  soared to an 8-2 win over Varoli.  At No. 6, Decastro was simply overpowering in an 8-0 win over Wah.

SLC scored their lone winner at the No. 4 position, posting a win by Hsuan over Matthew Kotlyar, who did not play Doubles for CSI, 8-5.

For the Dolphins, they have earned the No. 2 seed in the six-team CUNYAC Postseason Tournament.  They will await the winner of a quarterfinal match as part of semifinal play on Sunday, April 28, at 1pm, at the National Tennis Center.
