The rough weather has derailed the men’s tennis season for the better part of a week, but the Dolphins will be resuming today to start a busy week of activity, as they play hosts to John Jay College for an important CUNYAC showdown at 4pm at the CSI Tennis Center.  The Dolphins enter undefeated in the CUNYAC and on a six-match win streak.

CSI vs. JOHN JAY COLLEGE
Matchup: College of Staten Island (6-1, 3-0 CUNYAC) vs. John Jay College (2-5, 1-3 CUNYAC)
Where: CSI Tennis Center – 2800 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY
All-Time Series:  CSI leads, 27-10
Last Meeting: April 27, 2018 – CSI won 5-0
Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins are being led by both Raymong Hwang and Alex Tsui, who come into play today with identical 6-1 records in Singles play this season.  Hwang has done most of his damage in the No. 3 position, while Tsui has operated primarily out of the No. 4 position.  No. 1 Singles player Ivi Selenica is 3-2 in Singles so far this season, and backs it up nicely with a 5-1 combined mark in Doubles play, also all at the No. 1 position.  Hwang has paired with Lesly DeCastro to stay undefeated in Doubles, as they are 4-0 in the No. 3 position this year and will likely look to keep that streak alive today against the Bloodhounds.
Players to Watch (JJC): The Bloodhounds are led by the tremendous play of terry Park, who is having an outstanding season at the No. 2 position, sporting a 5-2 overall record there.  Ahror Muminov is 4-3 this season, but all of his play has been in the No. 1 position, so he has been a very good player for the Bloodhounds this season as well and JJC is hoping he stays hot today.  Those two players have also teamed up as JJC’s top Doubles team all year, sporting a 5-2 record.
News & Notes:  CSI holds an all-time 27-10 record over JJC and that includes a pair of wins against the Bloodhounds last year, once during the regular season, 9-0, and once during the postseason, 5-0.  The Dolphins are on a four-match win streak over the Bloodhounds, as John Jay has not beaten the Dolphins since the 2016 season, a 5-4 win in Wayne, NJ.  Here at CSI, the Dolphins are 20-5 all-time over JJC, and have won five-straight at CSI, having not lost to the Bloodhounds at home since 2012.  These teams have played three common opponents this season.  CSI defeated Hunter College, 5-4, while JJC fell to the Hawks, 6-3.  Against Brooklyn, JJC lost 6-3, while CSI defeated the Bulldogs, 6-3.  And against St. Joseph’s of Long Island, John Jay fell 6-3 while CSI won, 9-0.  CSI is looking to stay perfect at home as they are 2-0 this season at the CSI Tennis Center.  The Bloodhounds are 1-3 on the road and this will be their fourth-straight road contest, having lost the last two.
