#5 – Ethridge blows away the field and wins MVP @ CUNYAC Championship
Date: February 24, 2019
Who: Women’s Indoor Track & Field
Where: New Balance Track & Field Center – New York, NY
What Happened: Junior Kharyn Ethridge literally dominated the field at the annual CUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, winning Most Valuable Performer honors behind an incredible showing that consisted of several first-place finishes. Her MVP performance began when she gave CSI their first-ever CUNYAC gold medal in the 1-mile run coming in at a time of 5:41.66, winning by over 10 seconds. It did not take Ethridge long to claim gold once again as she finished first in the 400-meter Dash, doing so by less than a second with a run of 59.98. It was then a gold medal hat trick for Ethridge when she won the 800-meter competition with a time of 2:27.58 in another tight race won by less than two seconds. Finally, Ethridge made it a clean sweep with a gold medal in the 3k run, blazing in at 11:37.20, winning the event by over 13 seconds. Due in large part to the contributions of Ethridge, CSI placed 4th in the event, and her performance helped make the postseason debut of indoor track and field a memorable one for the program.
