Preparation for the long-awaited project to replace major sections of our campus walkways begins tomorrow, Thursday Apr. 6,  in the North Academic Quad  with the arrival of trailers and other equipment. The project is being managed by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) which has hired contractor JR Cruz to perform the work.

The actual work will start in front of Building 3N  with “site protections” (fencing) installed on Monday, Apr. 10. When the sidewalk construction is complete there, work will proceed in sections around the Quad and eventually throughout the campus. We will keep as many of our walkways open as possible while the work is underway, and update the community as the work locations shift.

All buildings will continue to be accessible, but there will be a fenced-in areas with construction equipment accessing the work through our walkways and on Loop Road.

We urge all members of our community to please use caution and remain alert when walking in areas where work is in progress. Work on the North Academic Loop, which serves Buildings 1N through 5N, is expected to continue until early June of this year. Additionally, the south side of the parking area next to 1N (non-faculty side) will be used as a staging area and will be closed for the duration of the project.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we undergo these much-needed repairs to our campus. Please contact the Campus Planning Office with any questions or concerns at facilitiesmanagementplanningandoperations@csi.cuny.edu.
