The College of Staten Island’s Men’s & Women’s Swimming and Diving programs received exciting news last week, as they have been accepted as an associate member of the Northeast-10 Conference effective for the upcoming Swimming & Diving season. CSI will join Adelphi University, Assumption University, Bentley University, Le Moyne College, Pace University, St. Michael’s College, The College of Saint Rose, and Southern Connecticut State University in sponsoring Swimming & Diving as part of the the NE-10. As associate members of the conference, CSI will be eligible to compete in next year’s NE-10 Conference Championship scheduled to take place across four days from February 8-11, 2024. The East Coast Conference, of which CSI is a full member, does not sponsor swimming and diving.

The Dolphins have become familiar with some of the other programs competing in the NE-10 during the last several seasons since the program officially moved into NCAA Division II in 2019. In their first year as a Division II program, the Dolphins hosted the Adelphi Panthers in their regular season finale. They then faced the Panthers in two separate meets when intercollegiate athletic competition returned in the 2021-2022 season, and they took on the Panthers once more in the 2022-2023 season.  The Dolphins have also faced Pace University on the road during each of the past two Swimming & Diving seasons.

“We are looking forward to our Swimming & Diving program competing in the NE-10 as an associate member institution, and we are honored to be a part of one of the premier conferences in the region,” said Director of Athletics Chase Licata.  “Finding a Division II home for our Swimming & Diving program was one of our top priorities, and membership in a distinguished conference like the NE-10 will enhance the College of Staten Island’s ability to attract talented student-athletes. We’re excited to begin working with Commissioner Rupert and her wonderful staff while competing against the terrific student-athletes and coaches of the NE-10. I want to thank the Interim President of the College of Staten Island, Dr. Timothy Lynch, his staff, and our Swimming & Diving Head Coach Michael Ackalitis for their support and guidance throughout the application process. Their efforts played a vital role in finding CSI Swimming & Diving a Division II home.”
