The College of Staten Island’s Division of Student Affairs/Office of Student Life is proud to present “One World, Many Differences: Civility. Peace. Respect,” a CSI Leadership Conference, on Friday, April 1, 2011. The event is open to CSI students, faculty, and staff and the greater Staten Island community. There will also be participants from several area colleges and universities and this will provide an opportunity for students and professionals to meet, network, and share ideas, opportunities, and concepts in civility, leadership, and cultural competency.
The Fourth Annual Leadership Conference is an inspiring, full-day conference that will provide the opportunity for participants to acquire and develop the knowledge and skills needed to lead diverse organizations and increase their cultural competence in working with diverse individuals and groups. Participants will learn how to use their knowledge and skills to be catalysts for change here at CSI and in their respective communities.
The conference is guaranteed to be engaging, interactive, educational, and fun for all who participate. By attending this conference, we trust that you and our students will gain a better understanding of diversity and cultural competency as well as develop skills that you can incorporate into your personal and professional lives. Those who know who they are and what they stand for become the leaders of their community and the world.
We are thrilled about the day and want to share this leadership opportunity with the entire CSI community, and especially our students. In addition, we have invited students from the CSI High School for International Studies, all CUNY colleges, and the CUNY Malave Leadership Academy, as well as St. John’s University and Wagner College. The conference is free to CSI students, faculty, and staff and $15 for non-CSI participants. You can download information and register for this terrific day online at the CSI Homepage. Look under “Upcoming Events” for the “2011 Leadership Conference.”
This conference would not be possible without the generous contributions of our sponsors. We would like to thank the CSI Foundation, CSI Campus Activities Board, SEEK, CSI Student Government, and the CUNY BMI/CSI Office of Access and Success Programs, as well as I Am Staten Island for their unwavering support of our conference.
Feel free to call the Office of Student Life at 718.982.3088 if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you all there.
