CSI’s men’s tennis team started their season off with 7-2 victory over Brooklyn College in CUNYAC play on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Despite forfeiting the third flight of doubles, CSI took the other two wins. Nick Zikos and Joe Taranto took an 8-0 win at the No. 1 spot while Masaru Takaki and Daniel Ursomanno defeated their opponents in an 8-2 victory at the second spot.
 
In singles, Zikos defeated Anthony Chane, 6-2, 6-2, in the first flight. At second, Taranto took a 6-3, 6-2 win over Matthew Micharlsen. In third singles, Masaru Takaki beat Vesna Tan 6-2, 6-0. Bobby Hargraves defeated opponent Raymond Chan 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 in a well fought four spot singles round. Finally, in the fifth spot, Daniel Ursamanno took a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Arvind Badhey CSI forfeited their sixth flight giving Brooklyn their second point for a 7-2 finish.
 
CSI Head Coach Paul Ricciardi was pleased with his newcomers’ debuts. “I’m impressed with Daniel’s debut with a convincing win in singles and Nick’s victory in both the doubles and singles play.”
 
“Even though we were short handed,” says Ricciardi, “I’m impressed with the way our team stepped up and filled in higher spots. I was happy to start our season with a victory; we plan to improve from here”
