The College of Staten Island women’s tennis team has gone through the 2010 season relatively unscathed due to the weather, but Mother Nature fought back on Tuesday, halting their conference finale against visiting Brooklyn College at the CSI Tennis Center yesterday afternoon. The Dolphins were ahead 2-1 in doubles play when the match was halted after a severe passing thunderstorm hit, flooding the courts.
The make-up continuation of the match will be held on Sunday, October 17 at 12 Noon. Play will resume with doubles matches having already started. The Dolphins are currently 7-1 in the CUNYAC this season, hanging on to a first-place tie with Hunter College in the standings (Hunter owns the head-to-head tie-break). Brooklyn is 4-3 this season in CUNYAC, currently tied for 4th place in the standings with Lehman College. The top four teams in the conference get to host a first-round quarterfinal game when the playoffs start on October 19.
