The College of Staten Island men’s basketball team was able to take advantage of an FDU-Florham team that went cold in the final four minutes to irk out a, 54-53, non-conference win over the visiting Knights this afternoon at the Sports & Recreation Center. The win lifted the Dolphins record to 4-1 overall while the Knights fell to 2-5 overall.
With four and a half minutes to play in the game, FDU-Florham’s Mike Williamson nailed his second straight three pointer to give the Knights a four point lead, 51-47. They wouldn’t score again from the field. Junior Kevin King answered back with a three of his own to cut the lead to one. After a missed three by the Knights on the ensuing possession, Chadwick-Myers drained a jumper that would ultimately put the Dolphins up for good. The two teams would trade two free throws each before FDU-Florham’s Will Green missed the final shot at the buzzer, giving the Dolphins the victory, 54-53.
Junior Jonathon Chadwick-Myers paced the Dolphins scoring attack with 26 points, including six three point field goals, while Junior Dylan Bulger added a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Williamson led the way for the Knights off the bench, scoring 17 points, while Derek Hall added 10 points of his own to go along with seven rebounds.
