The College of Staten Island men’s volleyball team got back to action this afternoon but the results were not favorable, as the Dolphins dropped a pair of games to New Jersey City University and Keuka College in a tri-match held in Jersey City, NJ. CSI fell to 4-9 overall with the losses, while NJCU opened up to 9-9 and Keuka 8-5.
NJCU took the opener, 25-14, 25-19, and 25-7. The Gothic Knights out-killed CSI, 38-14, and boasted a .309 attack percentage while the Dolphins had problems at the net as they finished -.122 in the opener. Daque Wilcox and Jalen Sorrell led a balanced attack with eight kills apiece, while CSI muscled in five kills from Danil Kukovitskiy.
NJCU kept CSI off balance with some great passing, as both Kendall Tribbett and Erick Nascimento each registered over 15 assists. Sheldon Coure was an anchor at the back end with 13 digs. Ronald Tisbe led CSI defensively with eight digs.
In the second match, Keuka got the better of CSI, winning 25-9, 25-20, and 25-13. Aaron Brill tallied 9 kills for the winners, adding a game-high seven service aces as well to keep the Dolphins off balance via the serve. Bill also led with three blocks. Overall, the Wolfpack tallied 19 aces in the match to none for CSI, and that ultimately proved to be the demise of CSI in the second match.
?The Dolphins will get back to action on Wednesday, March 2, when they host York College at 7pm at the Sports & Recreation Center.
