The College of Staten Island softball team will play their first home game this afternoon since they last played Lehman College back on March 26. CSI will defend their home diamond tonight against New Jersey City University for the ‘Battle of the Bayonne Bridge’ at 4:30 pm at the CSI Softball Complex.

Players To Watch (CSI): Chyanne Gilliam continues to light up the score sheet this season and is currently batting .452 with 14 RBIs and six doubles, all of which are team highs. Rookie Antoinette Galbo reaches base 42% of the time and is batting .409, placing her third on the team. Galbo is coming off an all-star performance against Brooklyn College where she collected 8 RBIs while hitting .889 over the doubleheader. Jacqueline Cautela is coming off of a perfect game with 13 strikeouts and will hope to zone in on that same performance for today’s doubleheader.
Players to Watch (NJCU): Brittany Paulikas leads the Gothic Knights with .439 hitting and the lone pair of homeruns for the Gothic Knights. Paulikas also leads the way with 18 RBIs and a .667 slugging percentage. Hannah Gavin stretches every at bat out as long as she can and has been walked 12 times this season.
News and Notes: The Dolphins come into tonight’s doubleheader on a six game win streak and have outscored their opponents 84-2 over that six game stretch. When it comes to tonight’s match up the Dolphins have won four of the last five games. Playing at the CSI Softball Complex the Dolphins hold a 13-7 record over the Gothic Knights. The last four times these two teams played the Dolphins have outscored NJCU 43-19. Staten Island is hitting an average of .540 over their last six games which is way above their season average of .360. The Dolphins will look to take advantage of fielding miscues by NJCU as they have committed 58 errors compared to just 21 by the Dolphins.
