Players To Watch (CSI): 2015 leading goal scorer Marcin Klim (9 goals) got on the ledger this season with two markers in the 3-0 win vs. Purchase yesterday, giving him 20 career goals. Ali Fares, who led the Dolphins in 2013 in assists, collected his first of the season on the opening goal. Junior Adrian Cosovic scored his first career point for CSI on a second half assist, while Nermin Kurtesi scored his 11th career goal in the win as well. Starting keeper Jake Foeldes is off to a 2-0 start with two shutouts (one shared) to open the season.
Players To Watch (YU): Yeshiva has been outscored this season, 8-1, with their only goal coming from Itamar Ben David in their season opener. Ben David did not play in the loss to NJCU yesterday. He is one of only two seniors on the YU squad, the other being Adir Alon, who has started both games, registering a single shot. The goal came via a penalty kick against St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn in Yeshiva’s opener, a 2-1 defeat. To open the campaign goalies Maor Feinstein and Max Goldstein have split games. Goldstein earned the start yesterday posting five saves while facing a heavy 21 shots against the Gothic Knights.
News and Notes: The Dolphins and Maccabees have faced each other only once in their history, back in 1983, what was then a 7-1 CSI win. The result of this game will determine the winner of the CSI Fall Classic. If the Dolphins beat Yeshiva by more than six goals then they would win the Classic thanks to a 10 or more aggregate. If CSI loses, ties, or wins by less than six, then NJCU would win the trophy. Should CSI win by exactly six goals then the trophy would be shared with NJCU and co-champions named…This is the first time that the Dolphins have started 2-0 under fifth-year Head Coach John Tardy. The Dolphins have not gone 3-0 since 1999. Their best ever start was 4-0 having done it twice, the last time in 1990.
