The CUNY Athletic Conference announced their Women’s Soccer All-Stars and the College of Staten Island has a handful of their talented players on the list. Making the first team of all-stars was Paige Buono, Lauren Neglia, Amanda Percaccio and Natalie Tombasco, and named Rookie of the Year was Demi-Jean Martorano.
 
Despite an injury that kept her from playing the last five games, Buono, a junior mid-fielder, had been a key component to the Dolphins. She started the season strong in the opening game against NYU-Polytech with two goals and an assist. She followed that performance a week later registering a hat-trick in the 8-0 win against John Jay. On the season, Buono totaled 17 points that included 7 goals and three assists.
 
Also a mid-fielder, Neglia is a positive force for the Dolphins. She led the team in shots with 53, 34 on-goal, and tallied nine goals. Her total of 23 points includes five assists. The junior has had three game winning goals including the penalty kick against CCNY in the semifinals game to bring them to the Championship game.
 
St. Joseph Hill product, Percaccio tallied one goal (with a total of five shots and three on-goal) and two assists on the season. However, the 5’2” defender’s statistics don’t do her hard work much justice. She was a noticeable player on the field, as a freshman, she has played and started in all 16 games. As a defender, her speed and vigor kept opponents far from the net. The Dolphins will continue to prosper in the upcoming years with her protection and determination in the back.
 
Another speedy freshman to make the All-Star list was Tombasco. She is second best on the team with goals scored, totaling 10. The 4’10” forward averaged 2.62 shots per game and 1.5 points per game. She registered four assists at season end. Tombasco has had a few notable games with the Dolphins this season. Against NYU-Polytech, she scored two goals and had two assists. In CSI’s first win against Medgar Evers, she had two goals then a few weeks later in the final regular season game against Medgar Evers she scored a hat-trick that helped the team to a 4-1 victory.
 
Leading the team with 16 goals as a freshman, it’s no wonder Martorano was named Rookie of the Year. With two CUNYAC Player of the Week nods, the forward was also top in the CUNYAC with game winning goals, tallying five. Both against Purchase and CCNY, she scored the lone goal of the game.  Martorano’s 37 points, that included five assists, was the best on the team. She also registered two hat-tricks this season, one came in the Dolphins win against Yeshiva where she also tallied two assists. As her career continues at CSI there is no doubt as to the history she will make and the records she will break.
 
The Dolphins were defeated by Medgar Evers 3-1 in the Championship game this past Saturday. CSI finished with a 5-1 conference record that earned them a CUNYAC regular season championship title and an 11-5 overall record.
